Support from EKMAS to the 100th Anniversary Fashion Show of our Republic

Under the coordination of Izmir Governorship, in cooperation with Turkish Red Crescent Women’s Izmir and Izmir Maturation Institute, the “100th Anniversary of Our Republic Fashion Show” was organized within the scope of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism Ephesus Cultural Road Festival. The event, organized with the contributions of EKMAS, witnessed emotional moments.

The fashion show at the Izmir Culture and Arts Factory featured clothes combining tradition and innovation from the Anatolian Seljuk period to the Republic and today. In addition to local and natural woven fabrics woven on hand looms, traditional motifs hand-embroidered on silk and velvet fabrics were introduced to the guests. The people of Izmir flocked to the fashion show, which was attended by Izmir Governor Süleyman Elban and his wife İrem Beyza Elban, Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism Batuhan Mumcu, AK Party İzmir Deputies Ceyda Bölünmez Çankırı and Şebnem Bursalı, and Minister of Culture and Tourism Mehmet Nuri Ersoy’s wife Pervin Ersoy.

Red Crescent Izmir Provincial Chairman Kerem Fahri Baykalmış said that the great enthusiasm felt in the hearts on the 100th anniversary of the Republic increased even more with the celebrations held all over Turkey. Stating that the founding purpose of the Red Crescent is to deliver humanitarian aid regardless of religion, language and race, Baykalmış, “Unfortunately, we are faced with a great human tragedy in the world. Halide Edip Adıvar took part in the establishment of the Turkish Red Crescent as an educator, caregiver and member of parliament. Many women, whose names we cannot finish counting, served in the Red Crescent.
